We had our wedding at Black Sheep Shelter and truly don’t have enough words to describe how magical and meaningful this venue is. The setting is breathtaking: the open meadow, the beautifully restored pavilion, the flowers blooming, and the surrounding trees made for the most stunning backdrop to our day.
We truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Black Sheep Shelter. From the moment we found this venue, it felt like it was meant to be the place where we would get married. It is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and has such a special feeling to it that is hard to put into words.
We feel so lucky to have gotten married at this incredible venue! The entire space is clearly cared for with so much love and intention (it truly felt like a Midwestern paradise!!) Every little detail of the grounds added to the magic of the day, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful everything was.
We had our wedding on May 22, 2026 at Black Sheep Shelter. It was quite the perfect, easy, enjoyable, and BEAUTIFUL venue and people to work with. We loved every step of the way.
Getting married at Black Sheep Shelter
Black Sheep Shelter comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth it. First, see the glass house at the time of day and season you'd actually get married — the light pouring through the panes at golden hour is the whole reason to book one, but a greenhouse at noon in July feels very different from one at dusk in October, so ask about temperature and shade for your date and walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring the questions that only matter for a glass venue: is it heated and air-conditioned (the single most important question), what months do they actually book, is there shade cloth or diffusing glass for midday glare, what's the humidity like in summer, are candles or open flame allowed near the plants, and exactly what's included — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Glass venues are intimate and popular dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
