Greenhouse Wedding Venue Stats, 2026

We mapped the greenhouse wedding venues we could verify across America — 548 venues with 804,134 reviews between them. Here's where the glasshouses actually are, which states have the most venues per resident, what venues say their packages cost, and how big the biggest greenhouse venues really get. The Greenhouse Wedding Cost Index

What does a greenhouse wedding venue actually cost? The honest answer first: most greenhouse and conservatory venues quote privately rather than publish a price. Glass and glasshouse venues sit at the premium end of the wedding market, and the majority hand you a custom quote after a tour instead of posting a package rate — which is exactly why a public cost table for this niche stays thin. Of the 11 venues that do state a figure on their own website, packages cluster around a median of $2,500 (the average runs to $5,090, pulled up by the grand conservatories and palm houses at the top end). Treat that as a reference point, not a quote, and read the full breakdown — deposits, flat rental vs. per-head, peak-season and winter-date premiums — in the greenhouse wedding cost guide.

No single state yet has enough publicly-stated prices (we need 5+ venues in one state) to publish a per-state median — in a niche built on private quotes, that scarcity is the finding, not a data gap. As more venues post rates, the state-by-state index will fill in here. In the meantime, the cost guide walks through what actually drives a greenhouse-venue quote.

Which states have the most greenhouse wedding venues per capita?

Nationally there are about 1.6 greenhouse wedding venues per million residents. The per-capita crown goes to Alaska at 6.8 venues per million — 5 venues for a state of 0.7 million people — with Wyoming at 5.1 and Vermont at 4.6 close behind. Greenhouse venues follow horticulture and heritage more than raw population: the states with deep botanical-garden traditions, a history of conservatory-building, and grand estate glasshouses keep the most greenhouse venues per resident. At the other end, Mississippi has just 0.3 per million.

#StateVenuesPer million people
1 Alaska 5 6.8
2 Wyoming 3 5.1
3 Vermont 3 4.6
4 Iowa 14 4.3
5 Wisconsin 21 3.5
6 South Dakota 3 3.2
7 Washington 25 3.1
8 Rhode Island 3 2.7
9 Alabama 13 2.5
10 Illinois 30 2.4
11 Kansas 7 2.4
12 Michigan 23 2.3
13 Utah 8 2.3
14 North Carolina 24 2.2
15 Indiana 15 2.2

By raw count the big states still win — California has 43, Texas has 37, Illinois has 30 — but per resident, Alaska is the easiest place in America to find a glasshouse for your big day. This table is downloadable: greenhouse-venues-per-capita.csv.

The Greenhouse Climate-Control Index

Here's the number that matters most for a glass wedding and that no one else tracks: how many greenhouse venues are actually climate-controlled? A glass house without heating and air-conditioning is stunning in photos and miserable in a July heatwave or a January freeze — so "is it heated and cooled?" is the single most important question couples ask. Across the directory, at least 4.2% of greenhouse venues show confirmed evidence of climate control from their own website or couples' reviews. That's a floor, not a ceiling (we only count it when there's proof), but the state-by-state spread is telling: Arkansas leads at 20% of its glass venues confirmed climate-controlled. Hotter- and colder-climate states tend to rank higher — where the weather is extreme, comfort isn't optional.

#StateGreenhouse venuesClimate-controlledShare
1 Arkansas 5 1 20%
2 Alaska 5 1 20%
3 Missouri 13 2 15.4%
4 Florida 28 4 14.3%
5 Virginia 17 2 11.8%
6 New Jersey 11 1 9.1%
7 Texas 37 3 8.1%
8 Pennsylvania 26 2 7.7%
9 Alabama 13 1 7.7%
10 Indiana 15 1 6.7%
11 New York 25 1 4%
12 Washington 25 1 4%
13 Illinois 30 1 3.3%

Confirmed climate-controlled venues carry the badge on every city and state page — browse them all at climate-controlled greenhouse venues, and see which shine for an off-season date at winter weddings. Full table: greenhouse-climate-control-index.csv.

America's greenhouse wedding capitals

The towns and cities with the most greenhouse wedding venues in the directory, by raw count. The list looks nothing like a normal "most of X" city ranking — greenhouse venues cluster where the horticulture is, around towns and small cities with botanical gardens, arboretums, and estate grounds rather than only the biggest metros. Top of the list: Seattle, WA (5) · Philadelphia, PA (5) · Chicago, IL (4).

The full ranking — raw counts, per-capita, and how the big cities compare — lives on the Greenhouse Wedding Capitals page.

The biggest greenhouse venues in America

Of the venues that state a guest capacity on their own website (45 so far), the median greenhouse venue holds 200 guests (average 207). At the top end, the biggest stated capacity in the directory is 700 guests at The Atrium in Indianapolis, IN. Capacity is always the venue's own stated number — confirm with the venue when you tour.

The wedding-weekend states: venues you can stay at

At least 19 venues (3.5%) offer on-site lodging — cottages, guesthouses, and bridal suites that turn the wedding into a whole weekend. The state-by-state map, ranked by lodging venues per resident, is the Wedding-Weekend Map; the door-to-door list is the venues with lodging directory.

America's densest greenhouse-venue cities

Inside the venues

Of the 548 venues in the directory, 449 are definitive greenhouse, glasshouse, and conservatory wedding venues — that's what they call themselves — with the rest being botanical-garden conservatories, atriums, palm houses, and orangeries whose glass rooms earn them a place here. From our venue-website and review mining so far (these counts are floors — they require evidence, and enrichment is ongoing):

Offer on-site lodging193.5%
Offer all-inclusive packages213.8%
Are climate-controlled234.2%

These attributes are exactly why we badge listings: browse wedding venues, venues with on-site lodging, all-inclusive venues, corporate & event venues, and the venue styles from botanical conservatories to modern glasshouses.

Small-town destination venues worth the drive

Methodology: venue counts from our continuously maintained national directory (public business listings, filtered to genuine greenhouse, glasshouse, conservatory, and botanical-garden wedding venues); attribute counts (on-site lodging, all-inclusive packages, outside catering, climate control) mined from venue websites and couples' reviews; package prices and guest capacities are always the venue's own stated numbers, never estimates; population = US Census 2024 estimates. Per-capita = venues ÷ state population × 1,000,000. Want the dataset for a story? Email us — we're happy to cut the numbers by state or metro, with attribution.
